The Resurrection of Jesus

God is able to raise the dead...He did, and He will.

In John 10:17-18, Jesus said this about His coming death and resurrection:
"The reason my Father loves Me is that I lay down My life—only to take it up again.  No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ
After Jesus' death on the cross, His body was placed in a tomb.  On the third day after His death, two women went to the tomb and found the stone had been rolled away. An angel was inside the tomb and said to the women,

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.’”   - Mark 16: 6-7 (You can also read about the resurrection of Jesus in Matthew, Chapter 28; Luke, Chapter 24; and, John, Chapter 20)

"After His suffering, He presented Himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God." Acts 1:3

*

The Apostle Peter said in Acts 2:22-24:
“Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a Man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know. This Man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put Him to death by nailing Him to the cross.  But God raised Him from the dead, freeing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him."

Memorize the following verses:

 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4:
"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,  that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

*

1 Corinthians 15:13-14:
"If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised; And, if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith."
*
1 Corinthians 15:20-23:
"But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the Firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ, the Firstfruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him."

Our Resurrection To Come

In John 11: 25-26, Jesus said,
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies;  and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
*
“Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice  and come out—those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned."  - Jesus in John 5: 28-29
*
1 Corinthians 15: 50-55 reads:
" I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep (pass away), but we will all be changed—  in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.  For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.  When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?"
*
Philippians 3: 20-21 reads:
"But, our citizenship is in Heaven.  And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord, Jesus Christ, Who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body."
*
In Mark 12: 25, Jesus said,
"When the dead rise, they will be like the angels in Heaven."
When you read the entire text above, you will see that Jesus was talking about attitude and purpose.  The only attitude and purpose of God's angels  is to focus on God and serving Him.  In Heaven, that will be the total focus of all the souls there. Marriage will not at all be on their minds, nor anything carnal.

*
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 reads:
"For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."
*
Isaiah 26: 19 reads:
"But, your dead will live; their bodies will rise.  You who dwell in the dust, wake up and shout for joy.  Your dew will be like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead." (Do not worship the earth. Worship God)

*
Daniel 12: 2-3 reads:
"Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.  Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever."
